HARGA MINYAK PETROL RON95 AKAN NAIK...I CAN SMELL IT!(SATU RAYUAN RAKYAT MALAYSIA)

17/05/2011-03:21pm

Khairy: Don’t increase price of RON95

PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth has urged the Government to refrain from increasing the price of RON95 petrol as the public was already burdened with the increasing inflation.
Its chief Khairy Jamaluddin said cost saving measures and increased productivity takes priority over any move to reduce fiscal expenditure, including reducing fuel subsidies.
“Umno Youth recommends that the nation's resources be fully explored and utilised first, in conjunction with measures to increase efficiency and enhance value of assets,” the Rembau MP said in a blog post.
He said that while the price of consumer price index rose by three per cent in March, the price of non-alcoholic foodstuff rose by 4.7%.
He said the price of meat increased by 7.6%, milk and eggs by 7.9%, vegetables (11.4%), sweets (10.9%), fruits (6.8%) and seafood (3.8%).
Khairy was responding to Domes-tic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob's statement that the Government cannot guarantee that the prices of petrol, diesel and gas would remain the same if global crude oil prices continue to rise.

Govt: Don’t hike prices

PUTRAJAYA: Large companies have been warned not to raise prices indiscriminately if the Government reduces subsidies.
If they did so, they would land in trouble under the Anti-Profiteering Act, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.
He said that before the Act came into place, the Government had no means of taking action against large companies which fixed prices of products they monopolised.
“But with the Act which was enforced on April 1, we can act.
“Legal action can be taken against companies which raise prices unreasonably,” he said after the inaugural Cabinet committee meeting on price and supply of goods and services at the Prime Minister's office yesterday.
The meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassinmeets quarterly to strategise how to cushion the impact of rising prices caused by increased costs of materials.
Muhyiddin had said after the meeting that the Government was expected to shoulder a RM20.58bil subsidy bill this year, double that of 2010's RM10.32bil.
Ismail Sabri also said the Competitive Commission that would start operating from Jan 1 next year would monitor and control the activities of cartels.
“Sometimes a product is controlled by one or two companies which then decide on the price.
“Once the Anti-Profiteering Act is enforced, cartel control will become an offence,” he said.

Harga Minyak Akan Naik Dalam Waktu Terdekat?

Subsidy bill likely to rise to RM20.58 billion
2011/05/16
PUTRAJAYA: The government's subsidy bill is expected to top RM20.58 billion this year compared with RM10.32 billion last year.
Of the sum, RM18 billion will be for petroleum products, such as RON 95 petrol, diesel and LPG cooking gas.

Last year, a huge chunk of the subsidies also went to this sector, with RM8 billion disbursed.

In announcing this yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the increase in subsidies was due to the hike in oil prices.
"Despite this, from time to time, where it is considered fair, the sector concerned will receive assistance, especially for consumer products such as LPG cooking gas as it is widely used.

"If there are no subsidies the people will have to bear the burden but we have to reduce the subsidies in stages," Muhyiddin said after chairing the first meeting of the cabinet committee on supply and prices.

Also present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan and Domestic Trade, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The committee did not discuss the price of RON 95 petrol which has not increased since December.

Muhyiddin said there was no guarantee that prices of goods would not rise, especially for those outside the government's control.

However, he said the committee was looking at ways to help reduce the financial burden on the people.

The committee would explore long-term strategies to increase the nation's food supply as well as other daily needs and would hold discussions with the related sectors.

When asked if the government could limit exports of food products and other supplies to ensure adequate domestic supply, Muhyiddin said it was out of the government's control and that it could not stop producers from selling their goods overseas.

"We can, however, encourage major producers to increase their output and should they require assistance, we will consider incentives and help set up the infrastructure ...it is too early to specify the strategies," he said.

The committee decided that all ministries and government agencies should ensure the stability of supplies and prices in the country.

Muhyiddin hoped the commission that is to be established to enforce the recently announced competitive laws in January would monitor and act on complaints of unfair business practices.

"We are confident this will be effective in ensuring a more fair and equitable market for consumers."

Nilai subsidi meningkat kepada RM20.58 bilion - TPM

16/05/2011 3:02pm

- Bernama
