Trump tidak bertanding Presiden AS

17/05/2011 4:30am
Real estate mogul: Mr Trump had hinted he would make an announcement shortly after his TV show Celebrity Apprentice ended on May 22
- AFP

Donald Trump announces he will NOT run for President...
as NBC reveals schedule to advertisers
10:21 PM on 16th May 2011

-A Trump-helmed Celebrity Apprentice is a part of NBC's 2011-2012 television season

-On April 20 MSNBC anchor Lawrence O'Donnell called 'campaign' a publicity stunt and predicted a May 16 end

Donald Trump has confirmed today he will not run for President in the 2012 election.
The announcement comes one week after he fell from first placed candidate to tied fifth place among Republicans in a survey by the Public Policy Polling organisation.
The 64-year-old real estate mogul kept  America guessing for months over whether he would run for the 2012 Republican nomination, among intense media speculation.

His statement was made as NBC unveiled its new primetime schedule to advertisers, which has intensified speculation that his whole campaign was a big publicity stunt.
The decision 'does not come easily or without regrets', he said in a statement. 'I am not ready to leave the private sector.'
Mr Trump added that if he was to run, he thought he could win the Republican primary race and would win the presidency.
'I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election,' he said.
He made the announcement at the NBC Upfronts fall 2011 launch at a hotel in  New York, saying: 'I will not be running for president as much as I'd like to.'
Mr Trump has vowed to continue to speak out on important issues including the country's debt and ability to globally compete with China.
I will continue to voice my opinions loudly and help to shape our politician's thoughts,' he said.
'My ability to bring important economic and foreign policy issues to the forefront of the national dialogue is perhaps my greatest asset and one of the most valuable services I can provide to this country.'
Mr Trump insisted he will not fade from politics and claimed he will back whichever candidate is 'the most qualified to help us tackle our country's most important issues'.
He had hinted he would make an announcement shortly after his TV show Celebrity Apprentice ended on May 22. However he has made the announcement today instead.
The star of the NBC-TV show Celebrity Apprentice had risen to the top of the polls by questioning whether President Barack Obama was born in the U.S.
Mr Obama responded by releasing a longer version of his birth certificate - a move that has seemingly taken the steam out of Mr Trump.
He had spent months thinking about whether to seek the presidency, speaking to national GOP groups and travelling to early primary states such as New Hampshire.
MSNBC anchor Lawrence O'Donnell criticised NBC on April 20 for its relationship with Mr Trump, describing him as 'NBC's Charlie Sheen - the greatest individual embarrassment in the history of the network'.
And he did in fact predict that Mr Trump's presidential run would end today as NBC released their schedule and reminded people 'how this silly man makes his living and then orders him to shut up'.
Republican political consultant Mitch Zak, of Randle Communications in Sacramento, California, told the San Francisco Chronicle the decision was positive for his party.
'It's good the GOP field is "self-narrowing" early in the primary so that the remaining contenders can have a serious and focused debate on substantive issues,' he said.
'Instead of a three-ring circus, it looks like we'll get a primary in which the eventual Republican nominee will be ready to compete and beat President Obama.'
Four Republicans have so far confirmed they want to take on Mr Obama - Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich and Tim Pawlenty.
But Mike Huckabee, winner of the 2008 Iowa Caucuses and considered the GOP front-runner in many national polls, said last week he will not run in the 2012 election.

Trump Not Running For President

on May 16, 2011

Donald Trump said today that he won’t run for president.
In a statement, according to USA Today, Trump said: “I will continue to voice my opinions loudly and help to shape our politician’s thoughts. My ability to bring important economic and foreign policy issues to the forefront of the national dialogue is perhaps my greatest asset and one of the most valuable services I can provide to this country.”
The real estate mogul and reality TV star says: “I am not ready to leave the private sector.”
His decision comes the day after NBC announced it would continue Trump’s show, The Celebrity Apprentice, with or without the real estate mogul as its host. The show will resume in January.
Trump said in a statement that he was confident he could beat the Republican field and, eventually, President Obama. He also vowed to continue to speak out on key issues such as the nation’s debt and its ability to compete with China in the global marketplace.
“I will continue to voice my opinions loudly and help to shape our politician’s thoughts. My ability to bring important economic and foreign policy issues to the forefront of the national dialogue is perhaps my greatest asset and one of the most valuable services I can provide to this country,” he said.
Trump rose in early presidential polls in part because of his high name identification. For weeks, he made an issue of President Obama’s birthplace—taking the mantle of those who believe Obama was born outside of the United States and not eligible to be in the White House. Trump took credit for the president’s surprise decision last month to release the long form of his birth certificate that showed he was born in Hawaii.
The race for the GOP nomination has been reshaped in recent days, particularly by former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee’s decision to also skip a White House bid for next year.
Huckabee’s decision leaves the Republican race essentially wide open, especially in Iowa where voters will hold the nation’s first presidential caucuses in February. Ex-Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is considering the front-runner, having placed at the top or near it in major polls conducted by Gallup and other organizations. ?
