Pilot in Sibu copter crash succumbs to injuries

SIBU: Pilot Sahimi Ghazali, who was involved in the helicopter crash in Sibu Monday afternoon, died at 8.30pm, according to a Sibu Hospital consultant surgeon who was involved in administering the surgery.
Sibu OCPD Shafie Ismail confirmed the death.

SIBU: A helicopter crashed at the town square here Monday afternoon, just opposite a hotel where Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is due to attend a function.
City police chief Shafie Ismail said the pilot was injured and has been admitted to hospital.
There was no one else in the helicopter, he added.
It is learnt that Muhyiddin had arrived in another helicopter at the same place, just a few minutes before the crash.
The helicopter, belonging to Sabah Airways and among three carrying Muhyiddin's entourage, crashed at 1.50pm while taking off to return to Sibu airport.

SIBU 11 April – Seorang juruterbang yang cedera parah apabila helikopter jenis Bell 206 milik Sabah Air yang dipandunya terhempas sejurus berlepas dari Dataran Sibu di sini pada pukul 1.50 tengah hari meninggal dunia pada pukul 8.36 malam tadi.
Insiden itu berlaku sebaik sahaja mangsa menurunkan tiga penumpang termasuk pembantu khas kepada Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Juruterbang, Kapten Sahimi Razali, 38, mengalami kecederaan parah di bahagian rusuk terus digegaskan ke Hospital Sibu oleh Jabatan Pertahanan Awam (JPAM).
Muhyiddin bersama isteri Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman turut melawat Sahimi yang menjalani pembedahan di Hospital Sibu kira-kira pukul 4 petang.
Muhyiddin yang menghabiskan kira-kira 15 minit di luar dewan pembedahan turut menyaksikan proses pembedahan yang dijalankan.

SIBU: A helicopter crashlanded near RH Hotel in Sibu at 1.50pm today, minutes after dropping off Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's entourage.
The pilot, identified only as Captain Shahimi, suffered serious injuries on his right rib and was rushed to Sibu Hospital.
Sibu police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafie Ismail said Shahimi was about to fly off when it suddenly went out of control about 2 metres from the ground.
"The pilot had just landed to disembark three passengers from Bintangor and was heading to Sibu Airport," he said at the scene.
